Bully on “Where the Wild Things Were”

November 9, 2009

Mike Bull has an interesting reflection on the lack of a quest in the movie version of Where the Wild Things Are and relates it back to the nihilism of modern childhood and infant education. The self centerdness leads us to declare ourselves as god, but ultimately we become a beast with no quest of discovery, no great Other to expound.

In the modern West, even the Atheists are struggling to get people to take a Rasselas like quest of discovery. We’re so stuck on ourselves…but a quest and a mission is just what we need, thankfully, the life of the Christian is a spiritual war and quest. It’s time to challenge our brothers to take up arms once again.
